SUN stands for Service User Network.
It is a community support group for people who:
- Have a personality disorder, or
- Have complex emotional needs (strong feelings that are hard to manage)
Who is involved?
SUN groups are made up of people who:
- Have personal experience of these difficulties
- Understand what it can feel like
- Want to support each other
What happens in SUN groups?
SUN offers regular group sessions in the community where people can:
- Talk about their experiences
- Listen to others
- Share ideas and coping strategies
- Support one another
What is the group environment like?
SUN groups aim to be:
- Friendly – people are welcomed and included
- Understanding – others know how it feels
- Non-judgemental – no one is judged for what they say or feel
- Supportive – people help each other
What is the aim of SUN?
The aim is to give people a safe place where they can:
- Feel heard and understood
- Build confidence
- Learn from others
- Feel less alone
