SUN stands for Service User Network.

It is a community support group for people who:

  • Have a personality disorder, or
  • Have complex emotional needs (strong feelings that are hard to manage)

Who is involved?

SUN groups are made up of people who:

  • Have personal experience of these difficulties
  • Understand what it can feel like
  • Want to support each other

What happens in SUN groups?

SUN offers regular group sessions in the community where people can:

  • Talk about their experiences
  • Listen to others
  • Share ideas and coping strategies
  • Support one another

What is the group environment like?

SUN groups aim to be:

  • Friendly – people are welcomed and included
  • Understanding – others know how it feels
  • Non-judgemental – no one is judged for what they say or feel
  • Supportive – people help each other

What is the aim of SUN?

The aim is to give people a safe place where they can:

  • Feel heard and understood
  • Build confidence
  • Learn from others
  • Feel less alone
