What you can do to help

Everyone has a part to play in preventing the spread of infection, whether you are a patient, carer, or member of staff.

Stay home if you are unwell

Please do not visit if you have flu like symptoms, a heavy cold, diarrhoea, or vomiting.

Wait until you have been symptom free for at least 48 hours before coming to our sites.

Check before entering patient areas

Always speak to the reception or nursing team before entering any patient area.

At times, additional infection prevention measures (such as isolation) may affect visiting, and our staff will guide you through any extra steps to keep everyone safe.

Report any concerns

If you notice an unclean area or a spillage, please let a member of staff know so we can act quickly.

Clean your hands

Hand hygiene is one of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce infection.

Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance to all wards and departments.

If you cannot find a dispenser or notice one is empty, please inform a member of staff.

We encourage you to ask staff if they have performed hand hygiene.

All patients and visitors are encouraged to perform hand hygiene:

  • before entering or leaving a patient area
  • whenever your hands are visibly dirty
  • before assisting with meals
  • after visiting the toilet
