Accessing support

To receive support and treatment from the Oxfordshire Adult Community Eating Disorder Service (OACEDS), you must be referred by a healthcare professional. We do not accept self-referrals. The best way to begin this process is by speaking with your GP.

OACEDS provides specialist diagnostic assessments to help understand your current difficulties and determine whether you may have an eating disorder.

If you are offered an assessment, you’ll be asked to complete a series of questionnaires about your experiences. These help us better understand your clinical needs and guide us in recommending the most appropriate support or treatment.

Assessments typically last around 1 hour and 30 minutes. You will be seen by two clinicians who will ask about your current challenges and personal history. As part of the assessment, your height and weight will also be measured.
