Assessments
The first step in your treatment
The first part of your treatment is a specialist assessment. This is carried out by two members of our team.
The assessment clinics take place between either 09:15 -12:00 / 12:15 – 15:00 and take place at our base at Savernake Hospital (Marlborough). The assessment clinics include the full assessment, physical health observations (including weight and height) and a follow up appointment to confirm the ongoing care plan, following a multidisciplinary team discussion.
During the assessment, we will ask you about your eating difficulties, how they affect your daily life, and your goals for treatment.
Measuring your height and weight
It is important that we take your height and weight as part of the assessment. We understand this can be difficult for some people. You can talk to us about the best way to take these measurements during the assessment. We will then record these, along with other checks, if needed. This information helps us decide the right treatment for you.
Before your appointment
We will send you an email with all the details you need for your appointment. If you can’t receive email, we can send you a letter in the post.
We will also send you some questionnaires to fill in before your appointment. These help us understand what is affecting you and how best to advise you. The questionnaires will ask about your eating difficulties, how they affect your life, and how they affect your mood and anxiety levels. This helps us decide what support or treatment will be most helpful for you.
After your assessment
On the day of your assessment, following a multidisciplinary team discussion we will let you know the outcome and ongoing treatment plan, where appropriate.
We work together with you, your carers, and other professionals involved in your care to help you recover and manage the risks to your physical and mental health.
Your individual needs will help us decide how often you will meet with the team and what type of support you need.
Once the assessment is complete, we will send the report to you, your GP, and the services that referred you. The report will include suggestions for your ongoing treatment.
