The nomination
The team were nominated by Operational Support Manager Joanne Radbourne and Administrative Assistant Teresa Harries for their attention to detail, proactive approach and dedication to ensure that patient areas are maintained to the highest standards, directly supporting the Trust’s strategic objective of providing outstanding care.
Beyond the teams’ daily duties, they demonstrate remarkable teamwork and initiative, often volunteering for additional responsibilities during peak periods without hesitation. Their positive attitude and commitment uplift the hospital environment, fostering a sense of confidence and reassurance among patients and staff alike. This dedication exemplifies how a motivated and passionate housekeeping team can play a crucial role in making Wallingford Community Hospital one of the best Trusts of its kind in the country.

“I truly believe we are very fortunate to have such a friendly, hardworking, and resilient housekeeping team on site. They handle every task, big or small, and consistently keep Wallingford Community Hospital looking spotless every day. They’re consistently cheerful, glad to see you, and foster a very positive and welcoming environment. Visitors and patients frequently mention how friendly the staff are at Wallingford, and I believe the housekeeping team plays a significant role in building this reputation. They work tirelessly all year round and consistently show up each day with genuine enthusiasm.
“The team demonstrate Caring by treating every space within the hospital with respect and empathy, ensuring rooms are comfortable, welcoming and hygienic, which helps everyone feel valued and supported during their time here. They prioritise Safe practices through rigorous cleaning protocols, infection control measures and attention to detail, actively reducing risks and protecting the health of patients, staff and visitors. Their commitment to Excellent is evident in their proactive approach, consistently exceeding standards, embracing new initiatives and continually striving to improve the hospital environment.”
Teresa Harries commented:
“The Housekeeping Team’s dedication goes far beyond their core responsibilities — they are a vital part of the ward’s daily rhythm.
“Not only do they maintain a clean and safe environment and prepare meals with care, but they also offer patients something truly special: an extra person to talk to, a warm smile, and a sense of comfort. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They act as an extra pair of eyes and ears, often noticing things others might miss, and always stepping in to help.
“They are not just the people who clean our ward — they are the force that keeps it moving forward. Their presence uplifts both staff and patients, and their contribution deserves to be recognised and celebrated.
“By integrating these values into their daily work, the team not only enhances patient experience but also supports the Trust’s strategic objectives of delivering outstanding care and maintaining Wallingford Community Hospital as a benchmark of excellence.”
