It’s that time of year again and planning is well underway for the Have A Go Festival – a fun free sports day event for people with a learning disability living in and around Oxfordshire.
Alongside a host of inclusive sporting activities, it’s a chance for people to meet up with friends, bring a picnic and enjoy the day.
The event is organised by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Oxfordshire’s adult learning disability service, and charity Active Oxfordshire and 2026 will mark the twelfth year of the event.
Allied Health Professional Lead for learning disabilities at Oxford Health, Michelle Fisher, said: “We’re really looking forward to this summer’s The Have a Go Festival – it’s all about being active and enjoying time together, trying something new and making friends.
“Taking part in sports and activities really builds people’s confidence and creates friendships. The Have a Go Festival is the opportunity for people with a learning disability to get together with friends and try something new. It’s a great opportunity to just have a go, support one another and celebrate every achievement.
“We have a brilliant range of activities again this year including football, cycling, dance, cricket, boccia and tennis.
“It’s a really fun supportive environment and there’s something for everyone to try.”
