Research and Development – Count Me In
Sections in this leaflet
Introduction
Oxford Health is a research-active Trust improving care through innovative studies in mental and brain health.
Our research is shaped by patients, carers and clinicians, and delivered to the highest standards.
By supporting research, staff help drive better treatments and outcomes for the people we serve.
Research at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
Oxford Health carries out research to improve care for people with mental and brain health conditions. Our studies explore a wide range of areas, including dementia, depression, sleep, pain, and psychosis.
Some research focuses on understanding how the brain works and testing new treatments, while other studies explore how services can better meet patients’ needs.
You may be invited to take part by completing a questionnaire, sharing your experiences, trying a new therapy, or testing a medication.
Research helps us learn more and improve care for you and for other patients today and in the future.

What does Count Me In mean for patients?
Count Me In means that patients may be contacted directly by approved Oxford Health research staff, to ask whether they would like to hear more about relevant research opportunities.
Patients may be contacted, if they are currently a service-user or after they are discharged, unless they ask not to be.
If contacted, you do not have to take part. Participation is voluntary and you can decide whether to find out more.
We will not share patient information outside of Oxford Health as part of Count Me In.
How will Count Me In benefit patients?
- More patients will hear about research and be informed of opportunities to take part
- Patients will decide whether to hear more about research
- Patients in research active NHS Trusts receive better care and have better outcomes.
How Count Me In will improve research at Oxford Health?
- More people will take part in research
- Participants will be recruited from a more diverse population, more accurately reflecting the general population
- The most suitable people for research projects will be identified more quickly
- Direct engagement with people about research will increase
