
{"id":37,"date":"2023-11-30T10:00:24","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T10:00:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/tissue-viability\/?page_id=37"},"modified":"2026-04-17T18:18:37","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T17:18:37","slug":"hosiery-workshop","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/tissue-viability\/training\/hosiery-workshop\/","title":{"rendered":"Hosiery workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Overview<\/h2>\n<p>This face-to-face half day workshop aims to equip clinicians with the knowledge and skills to select and fit appropriate compression hosiery for a variety of conditions and patient need.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Duration:<\/strong> half day<\/li>\n<li><strong>Delegates:<\/strong> 30 max<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Prior to attending this course attendees must complete the online\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/tissue-viability\/training\/introduction-and-core-tissue-viability-modules\/\">Introduction and core tissue viability modules<\/a>\u00a0course.\u00a0This is a requirement for all the Tissue Viability Courses but only needs to be completed once.<\/p>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Introduction course content<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>This consists of the following videos to be watched:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Partnership working:<\/strong> explores the issue of patient concordance and introduces the technique of Motivational Interviewing in our interactions with patients as a way of engaging patients in their care<\/li>\n<li><strong>Holistic patient assessment (Tissue Viability):<\/strong> explores the variety of internal and external risk factors that can contribute towards delayed wound healing<\/li>\n<li><strong>Nutrition for wound healing &amp; pressure ulcer prevention:<\/strong> offers practical advice on assessing and enhancing nutritional intake to both prevent wounds and aid wound healing<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<p>Completion of the Core Module and attendance at this workshop is required to be certified as having completed the course.<\/p>\n<p>Attendees are also advised to complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/tissue-viability\/training\/fundamentals-of-leg-ulcer-management\/\">Fundamentals of leg ulceration management<\/a> course before attending this workshop.<\/p>\n<h2>Module objectives<\/h2>\n<p>During this informative and interactive workshop, you will learn how to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carry out an assessment for hosiery<\/li>\n<li>Select the most appropriate garment for your patient\u2019s condition<\/li>\n<li>Measure the limb correctly to ensure there is an accurate fit, including made to measure hosiery<\/li>\n<li>Apply the hosiery correctly<\/li>\n<li>Care for the hosiery correctly and be able to advise the patient on long term prevention management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Who should attend?<\/h2>\n<p>This course is aimed at all clinicians, both registered and non-registered, involved in the provision of compression hosiery, the management of patients with current or healed leg ulceration or those with venous disease or chronic oedema.<\/p>\n<h2>Additional notes<\/h2>\n<p>Tea and Coffee will be provided. To help towards reducing costs and waste, please consider bringing your own cup.
