The care they give is unpaid.<\/p>\n<p>Many carers don\u2019t see themselves as carers and it takes them an average of two years to acknowledge their role as a carer (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nhs.uk\/CarersDirect\/understanding-carers\/Pages\/understanding-carers.aspx\">NHS website: Understanding Carers<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>We often ask a study partner to take part in research alongside the participant.\u00a0 This person can be a friend or family member who knows the participant well.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, we sometimes run studies where the friend or family member is the only participant.\u00a0 Examples of this would be a study exploring friends\/relatives perspectives, or interventions focussing on carers&#8217; wellbeing.<\/p>\n<h2>Current research<\/h2>\n<p>Every study is different.\u00a0 Some involve a questionnaire and some involve a therapy.\u00a0 Some studies take place at home and some take place in our research clinics.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"ui-provider ed bhs bdy bmi bmj bmk bml bmm bmn bmo bmp bmq bmr bms bmt bmu bmv bmw bmx bmy bmz bna bnb bnc bnd bne bnf bng bnh bni bnj bnk bnl bnm bnn\" dir=\"ltr\">We always appreciate hearing from people who are interested in getting involved in our studies.<\/span><\/p>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Current Studies<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>These studies are currently open to new participants:<\/p>\n<p><strong>CareCoach: <\/strong>Adapting and Testing the &#8216;Partner in Balance&#8217; (PiB) Carer Support Programme for use in the UK.
