When research participation finishes, we understand that staying informed and updated about your research study can be important.<\/p>\n<p>There are many ways to check for updates about your study. Here are some suggestions of where to look that we hope will be helpful to you:<\/p>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Main trial offices<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Most research is co-ordinated by a central team of researchers at the study\u2019s main <strong>Trial Office<\/strong>, and this will likely be a different team to who you completed your study with.<\/p>\n<p>Their contact details should be on your <strong>Participant Information Leaflet<\/strong> given to you at the start of the study or on a newsletter if you have one. This team may be able to update you on the study\u2019s progress.<\/p>\n<p>Your study may also have a <strong>main website<\/strong> which will be updated about the study&#8217;s overall progress, including the end date, future plans and contact details.<\/p>\n<p>Try searching for the name of your study on Google for example.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>You can also find information about who funds your study (<strong>on the Participant Information Leaflet<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>If your study was funded by the <strong>National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)<\/strong> you may find a summary once the study has ended across all sites on <a href=\"https:\/\/evidence.nihr.ac.uk\/\">NIHR Evidence<\/a>, which provides plain English summaries of study results.<\/p>\n<p>You can also register to receive the NIHR Evidence monthly newsletter on their website and follow their account @NIHRevidence on X (formally Twitter).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1432 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/09\/NIHR-4-300x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"504\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/09\/NIHR-4-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/09\/NIHR-4.png 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 504px) 100vw, 504px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Health Research Authority (HRA)<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Some studies in the NHS need to go through a process known as an \u2018ethics review\u2019 when it is looked at by an independent group of people before it is approved to protect your interests. These studies may then be approved by a national body called the <strong>Health Research Authority (HRA).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Studies that have been \u2018HRA approved\u2019 will be asked for an update on results <strong>one year<\/strong> after the overall study has closed (when all the data has been collected).<\/p>\n<p>If you think your study went through this process, try typing the name of your study into the search box on the left side of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hra.nhs.uk\/planning-and-improving-research\/application-summaries\/research-summaries\/\">HRA\u2019s research summaries webpage<\/a>. Your study may appear with a summary of what the study found.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to have more information about the study results, you will find the contact details of the main study here also.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is worth noting that there are often different sites running the same study and they need to wait for all data to be collected, <strong>so the study may close a while after you have finished your part. <\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1433 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/09\/HRA-logo-300x168.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"487\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/09\/HRA-logo-300x168.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/43\/2024\/09\/HRA-logo.jpeg 333w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 487px) 100vw, 487px\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">National research databases<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Most studies will be listed on a <strong>national research database<\/strong> as evidence that a research study is taking place. Two commonly used registers are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.isrctn.com\/search?q=\"><strong>International Standard Randomised Controlled Trial Number (ISRCTN)<\/strong> <strong>registry<\/strong><\/a> shares summaries of what the study found.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can search for your study either by entering the specific \u2018ISRCTN\u2019 Identifier\u2019 into search box (this can be found on your <strong>Participant Information Leaflet<\/strong> given to you at the start of the study) or by simply typing the name of your study into the search box. You may find updates on results about your study.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clinicaltrials.gov\/\"><strong>Clinical Trials website<\/strong><\/a> is a database which aims to have up to date information on clinical trials.
