He qualified as a clinical psychologist in 1979 at the Institute of Psychiatry and Maudsley Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Paul worked in Yorkshire as a clinical psychologist before moving to the University of Oxford as a Research Clinical Psychologist.<\/p>\n<p>In Oxford, he became Professor of Cognitive Psychology before leaving to work at King\u2019s College London\u2019s Institute of Psychiatry as Professor of Clinical Psychology and Applied Science and was Clinical Director of the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma (2000-2010).<\/p>\n<p>He led the South London and Maudsley national outpatient OCD service and was Director of a joint University\/NHS national specialist anxiety disorder clinic. He later ran a similar clinic at the University of Bath and was Programme Director for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme at Bath.<\/p>\n<p>Paul has returned to Oxford as Professor of Clinical Psychology, where is he Director of the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology and of the Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre.<\/p>\n<p>He is currently Editor of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy and is on the editorial board of many international journals.<\/p>\n<p>He is Patron of several OCD and anxiety disorder charities.
