HUGE THANK YOU to Dan Chacko who has been delivering scrubs and visors to the Whiteleaf Centre in Aylesbury. Dan is a team leader at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust at the Main & Marlow Theatres in Wycombe Hospital, but has been lending a helping hand to neighbouring healthcare organisations all through the past months in the pandemic – by sourcing PPE.

Dan said: “I managed to source visors and scrubs by approaching local and national companies with support of social media community groups, who are passionate to support the NHS front line staff and thousands of key workers. In the fight against Coronavirus the safety of the staff is paramount.” 

After liaising with the procurement team in his own trust, and ensuring that their hospitals had taken their share, Dan set about approaching care homes, surgeries and other care settings, including NHS across Buckinghamshire, Bedforshire and Oxfordshire. Among the lucky and grateful recipients are the wards at the Whiteleaf Centre. 

Modern matron Sibongile Nyathi said: “Dan initially donated 200 visors and we distributed 50 to each ward. He again donated another 200 which we still have in our stores. This order came with scrubs and we have shared them with all four wards. Most of the scrubs came with messages from young people who have been involved in making them.”
