Our Bucks-based service offering talking therapies, practical support and employment advice will be at the Amersham library from 15th to 17th May, offering Buckinghamshire residents resources and materials to help deal with everyday stress, as well as free taster sessions on mindfulness.

Healthy Minds Bucks is our free talking therapy service for Buckinghamshire residents: anyone over 18 who is feeling depressed, anxious or stressed, and has a GP in Buckinghamshire, can request help from the service.

To mark Mental Health Awareness Week (14th-20th May), mental health professionals from the service, as well as employment advisors, will be on hand from 10 am to 4 pm on Tuesday 15th May at the Amersham library: come and find out what support is available to you in Buckinghamshire, and where to get further support.

This year’s theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is stress, and Josef Landsberg, a cognitive behavioural therapist at Healthy Minds Bucks said: “Stress can impact negatively on many areas of your life, including employment, physical health, relationships: the list goes on.

Just as everyone has blood pressure checks, everyone has stress as part of everyday life. But it is important to know what to do and where to find the help and accessible support you need when your own coping mechanism are under pressure.”

Noel Brown, Buckinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Engagement and Public Health, said: “The Amersham Library event is an easy and informal way for local people to find out more about the help and support available to help deal with the stresses of modern life, whether it’s for themselves or for someone they know. Please do pop in.”

Healthy Minds Bucks will also be offering free taster sessions on mindfulness, which has also been shown to help people cope effectively with day-to-day stress.

The mindfulness taster sessions will run on Wednesday 16th May at 2 pm, and on Thursday 17th May at 11:30 am, again at the Amersham Library. Bookings are strongly advised: book your place on eventbrite.
