The\u00a0<\/span>Primary Care Workforce Commission<\/a>\u00a0recommended that general practices should consider more opportunities to use the skills of paramedics in primary care.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0There is growing recognition that the generalist skills of the paramedic could be deployed into more widespread in-hours general practices. This may include running clinics, triaging and managing minor illnesses, and providing continuity for patients with complex health needs. The College of Paramedics<\/a> recognises the increase of Paramedics working in primary care. They have partnered\u00a0 with Health Education England and Skills for Health to produce the Paramedic Specialist in Primary and Urgent Care Core Capabilities Framework<\/a>,\u00a0 a\u00a0Diploma in Primary and Urgent Care\u00a0<\/a> and an Employers Guide for Paramedics in Primary and Urgent Care.<\/a><\/p>\n

The HEE \u2018Roadmap to Practice\u2019<\/a> provides a clear educational pathway from undergraduate to advanced practice for paramedics wishing to pursue a career in primary care.<\/p>\n

The e-Learning for Healthcare platform\u00a0 includes a programme of bite sized Paramedic e-Learning<\/a> developed by the College of Paramedics.<\/p>\n

The HEE Wessex Paramedics<\/a> page include links to a\u00a0Guide for General Practice Employing a Paramedic<\/span> compiled by Fareham and Gosport and South Eastern Hampshire CCGs which outlines the role of paramedics, how they work, where they fit into general practice and their scope of practice.<\/p>\n
