You can read the latest reports on the <a href=\"https:\/\/gp-patient.co.uk\/practices-search\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">GP Patient Survey website<\/a>, or find the latest report for a specific practice (searching by name or postcode) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gp-patient.co.uk\/compare?pageid=14\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">compare it to other nearby practices.\u00a0<\/a>\u00a0Read about the <a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/library\/cpd\/patients-remain-positive-about-their-gps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">results of the 2017<\/a> survey.<\/p>\n<p>Read the findings of the NIHR \u00a0research study,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/evidence.nihr.ac.uk\/collection\/patient-experience-of-primary-care\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patient experience of primary care<\/a>,\u00a0 which shares findings about what patients really think about their care, how this varies for different patient groups and how practices can act on patient feedback.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/healthtalk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Healthtalk.org<\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/youthhealthtalk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Youthhealthtalk.org<\/a> come from a unique partnership between The DIPEx charity and The Health Experiences Research Group\u00a0 at Oxford University\u2019s Department of Primary Care. <a href=\"https:\/\/healthtalk.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Healthtalk.org<\/a> is a place where doctors and patients can learn through other people&#8217;s every day experience of a health condition. There are hundreds of real people\u2019s stories collected by academic researchers who interview people in their own homes, using their own words aross a wide range different health issues.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Engaging with patients in primary care<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-lfh.org.uk\/programmes\/engaging-with-people-and-communities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Engaging with People and Communities<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; an\u00a0 elearning programme supports staff to involve patients and the public in their work. It uses approaches built on best practice principles to improve services, including giving clear advice on the legal duty to involve. The programme is available to access via the e-LfH Hub and the Electronic Staff Record (ESR).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.betterconversation.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Better conversation: Better health <\/a>\u00a0&#8211; Resources for clinicians and health and care leaders on how to introduce a health coaching approach to improve the quality of conversation and help patients change behaviour. The aim is to enable people to thrive by feeling more motivated, confident and in control of managing their own health and care. The site includes a short video, infographics and a resource guide with case studies, evidence and tips.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kingsfund.org.uk\/sites\/files\/kf\/field\/field_document\/patient-engagement-involvement-gp-inquiry-research-paper-mar11.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The quality of patient engagement and involvement in primary care<\/a>\u00a0explores how to improve and measure the quality of the engagement process, and reviews good practice examples of patient involvement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2020\/06\/Public_and_Patient_Engagement_Getting_it_Right.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Public and Patient Engagement Getting it Right<\/a> is a quick read, giving practical tips while also setting out the principles of engagement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Watch the film about engagement from the Quality MK research programme<a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/33691073\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0Quality MK : Making the difference &#8211; Public and Patient engagement<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthwatch.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HealthWatch<\/a>\u00a0is the national consumer champion in health and care, with significant statutory powers to ensure the voice of the consumer is strengthened and heard by those who commission, deliver and regulate health and care services.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Find local HealthWatch organisations <a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthwatch.co.uk\/find-local-healthwatch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Patient participation groups (PPG)<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Over 50% of practices in England now have a PPG- see Medical Protection&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalprotection.org\/uk\/practice-matters\/issue-1\/how-to-set-up-a-patient-participation-group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">How to \u2026 Set up a Patient Participation Group.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>NHS England have published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.england.nhs.uk\/south\/our-work\/get-involved\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">toolkit <\/a>to help you set up and run your PPG.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2017\/09\/MK-Patient-Partnership-Groups-Guide.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MK Patient Partnership Groups Guide<\/a> is a practical step-by-step guide to setting up a Patient Participation Group, produced in Milton Keynes. For General Practices and patients who are interested in getting more involved.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.napp.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">National Association for Patient Participation<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; NAPP promotes the benefits of patient participation groups in GP surgeries as a mechanism for delivering real, positive change within their communities, and believes that PPGs are making a real difference across the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Patricia Wilkie,\u00a0President and Chairman of the NAPP, has written about the importance to GPs of involving patients in the wider aspects of\u00a0the organisation of health care, as well as in their personal care, and demonstrates why\u00a0GPs need to work with the patients in their practice in order to fulfil aspects of the\u00a0GP curriculum and revalidation.\u00a0Read the article in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.napp.org.uk\/PATIENT%20PARTICIPATION%20PW%202018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">InnovAiT, 2018, Vol. 11(8), 452\u2013459<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Sharing decisions and information about their health with patients<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.e-lfh.org.uk\/programmes\/shared-decision-making\/\">Shared Decision Making e learning programme<\/a> on the Health Education England eLfh platform provides guidance on what Shared Decision Making\u00a0 is and how to implement it in practice.
