The General Practice workforce in England
NHS Digital has published data on the General Practice workforce in England as of December 2017:
- The total GP headcount (excluding Registrars, Retainers & Locums) is 34,395. This is an increase of 128 (0.4 per cent) from 34,267 in September 2017.
- The total GP full time equivalent (excluding Registrars, Retainers & Locums) is 27,930. This is an increase of 94 (0.3 per cent) from 27,836 in September 2017.
- The total headcount was 22,871 for Nurses, 17,955 for Direct Patient Care staff and 92,652 for Admin/Non-Clinical staff.
- The total FTE was 15,847 for Nurses, 11,788 for Direct Patient Care staff and 64,565 for Admin/Non-Clinical staff.
