Your visit to the Horton General Hospital for Dental Treatment (Easy Read)

You will arrive at the hospital and go through the double doors.

You will go down the long corridor and at the end turn right.  ➡️

The sign and door for the Day Case Unit

You will see the sign for the Day Case Unit.

Go through the doors.

Day case unit reception

You will meet the receptionist.

They will take you to a room on the ward.

There will be a bed and chairs in the room.

Your family / carers will stay with you.

You will meet the dentists and doctors.

They will check the plan for your treatment with you.

The nurse will check your blood pressure and oxygen levels.

You may change into a hospital gown and the nurse might put a name band on your arm / leg.

The nurse may place cream and a plaster on your hand.

The nurse may give you a drink. This should help you to feel more sleepy / relaxed.

The nurse will take you to theatres, you will go through these yellow doors.

Your family / carers will stay with you.

The doctor and their team will be here and will help you to sleep.

Your family can stay with you till you are asleep.

When you are asleep the dentists will look in your mouth and do your dental treatment.

After your treatment, you will go back to the room on the ward.

You will have a drink and some food.

You will go home and rest.

An adult must stay with you for at least 24 hours after leaving the hospital.

A hospital passport

If you have a hospital passport, please bring this with you.
