The clinical team
The Highfield Clinical Team includes a range of professional roles including Consultant Psychiatrists, Specialist Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Family Therapist, Occupational Therapists, Health Care Assistants and a Social Worker.
Dr Anthony James, Consultant Adolescent Psychiatrist
Dr Anthony James has been Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at the Highfield Unit for 25 years. Dr James qualified at St Bartholomew’s Hospital London, undertook postgraduate medical training at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and specialist training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Maudsley and Bethlem Hospitals. He has qualified in child psychotherapy and family therapy. His research work includes ADHD, psychopharmacology, epidemiology, psychosis using MRI, DTI and MEG, the care system, OCD, bipolar disorder, anxiety and depression. He has help set up the DBT service.
Fran qualified as a nurse in 2001; since this time she has worked within adolescent inpatient services. Fran has an interest in eating disorders and has experience of working with families and young people within a family based model. Fran has been part of the team that redeveloped the eating disorders programme at the Highfield Unit and introduced the CBTE model which has benefitted many young people and families. Fran has training in CBT and has worked with patients with a variety of diagnosis and presentations.
Fran is passionate about the best quality care and treatment being offered by the unit to each young person and family and believes the whole team at the Highfield Unit are an integral part in being able to deliver this care.
