So we have put together some tips, of things that helped us. We hope they will help you too.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Top tips for making a digital appointment\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tjiMDY-4ux8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Voice call or video call?<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cMy ideas may not work for someone else who likes something different.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t worry if you\u2019re not sure which will suit you best.<\/li>\n<li>You can try one option to begin with and if it doesn\u2019t work for you swap next time.<\/li>\n<li>But don\u2019t forget, sometimes it just takes some time to get used to meeting this way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Don\u2019t worry if it feels difficult at first<\/h2>\n<p>It takes time to get to know a new worker and feel comfortable enough to talk. That\u2019s okay. Take your time. Don\u2019t expect too much of yourself at first. It will get easier.<\/p>\n<p>You might find it very hard to get to grips with the digital sessions, don\u2019t put too many expectations on yourself to be your usual self.<\/p>\n<p>At times, the technology doesn\u2019t work as well as it should, which is frustrating. It doesn\u2019t happen a lot but if it does it normally gets sorted out pretty quickly.<\/p>\n<h2>Choose a comfortable, quiet, place<\/h2>\n<p>Choose somewhere you will not be disturbed or distracted if you can.<\/p>\n<h2>Prepare for your appointment<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Think about the things you want to talk about.<\/li>\n<li>It might help to write down questions, worries or issues you would like to discuss.<\/li>\n<li>If you think you may find it difficult to talk straightaway, write down what you\u2019d like to say beforehand and read out your notes at the appointment or text\/email them.<\/li>\n<li>You can also use the chat function during the meeting to text instead.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If it\u2019s your first appointment you will be asked to describe the difficulties that you have been having and the effect they are having on you. You may also be asked how you are hoping CAMHS can help you. Consider how you will answer these questions.<\/p>\n<h2>Confidentiality<\/h2>\n<p>Choose a place to \u2018meet\u2019 where you will not be overheard or interrupted. For some home is a safe place in which to \u2018meet\u2019 their worker but not for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>If possible, agree with other family members how they can help by respecting your privacy, giving you space during the call etc.<\/p>\n<p>Using headphones and the \u2018chat\u2019 text function helps maintain privacy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Online appointments can seem scary.
