{"id":3246,"date":"2020-12-17T15:21:13","date_gmt":"2020-12-17T15:21:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/irl\/?page_id=3246"},"modified":"2021-09-06T17:00:19","modified_gmt":"2021-09-06T16:00:19","slug":"ld","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/camhs\/wilts\/ld\/","title":{"rendered":"Learning disabilities"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What we do<\/h2>\n<p>We offer assessment, advice and, where appropriate, direct support and intervention to children and young people who have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>an identified emotional or mental health.<\/li>\n<li>a diagnosed learning disability or significant impairment of intellectual and social adaptive functioning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Children with learning disabilities often present mental health differently from other children, so we also look at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Challenging behaviours of sufficient severity to destabilise home or school, including physical and verbal aggression and self-injurious behaviours.<\/li>\n<li>Severe disturbance in activity of daily living and \/ or with relationships with others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Who are we?<\/h2>\n<p>We are a Specialist Learning Disability Clinicians with the CAMHS service.\u00a0We consist of:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consultant Psychiatrists<\/li>\n<li>Clinical Psychologists<\/li>\n<li>Learning Disability Nurse Practitioners<\/li>\n<li>Support workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We often have trainees that work with us.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the wider CAMHS team we support young people with learning disabilities and their families to access specialist CAMHS therapies that might be helpful.<\/p>\n<h2>How we help<\/h2>\n<p>We offer specialist assessments to help better understand children and young people\u2019s mental health needs.<\/p>\n<p>We work with young people and those caring for and supporting them to plan and provide the care and support that is needed to help with these difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>We monitor and review interventions to ensure they continue to be effective and to meet a young person\u2019s individual needs.<\/p>\n<h2>Working with other agencies<\/h2>\n<p>Our aim is to ensure that children, young people and families are supported at the right time with the right resource.<\/p>\n<p>Our team offers the following to other agencies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consultation<\/li>\n<li>Advice and support<\/li>\n<li>Supervision and joint working<\/li>\n<li>Training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What we do We offer assessment, advice and, where appropriate, direct support and intervention to children and young people who have: an identified emotional or mental health. a diagnosed learning disability or significant impairment of intellectual and social adaptive functioning.
