This may include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Doing <strong>specialist assessments<\/strong> if needed.<\/li>\n<li>Helping you find other services or community support.<\/li>\n<li>Working closely with school, social workers, health teams and others already involved.<\/li>\n<li>Supporting everyone to work towards the <strong>same goals<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Helping you understand <strong>why certain behaviours happen<\/strong> and how to reduce risk.<\/li>\n<li>Offering <strong>strategies and simple changes<\/strong> at home or school to help your child communicate in safer, more positive ways.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We <span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>do not<\/strong> <\/span>provide specialist support for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Toileting issues<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sleep problems<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you need help with these, our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/camhs\/bucks\/spa\/\">Single Point of Access (SPA)<\/a>\u00a0will point you to the right service.<\/p>\n<h2>What to expect at sessions?<\/h2>\n<p>We usually start by meeting with the main carers <strong>without the young person<\/strong>. This helps us get to know you, understand your situation, and learn more about what has been happening at home and school. It also helps us understand the main difficulties that led to the referral.<\/p>\n<p>We always work in a <strong>person\u2011centred way<\/strong>, which means we focus on what matters to your child and your family. Our team has lots of experience working with children and young people who have Learning Disabilities. We use different methods to help us understand how your child shows they are upset or distressed, even if they cannot easily tell us. We then work together to help them find safer and more positive ways to communicate their needs.<\/p>\n<p>We try to involve the child or young person, and the people who support them, in all parts of planning their care whenever it is appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>We look at the <strong>whole picture<\/strong>\u2014your child\u2019s health, development, experiences, and the support around them.
