\n \n Can I speak to the clinician without my child present?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n

Yes, we like to offer everyone the opportunity to speak to clinicians individually as well as together.<\/span>\u00a0If there is information that\u00a0<\/span>has to<\/span>\u00a0be shared for safety reasons, we will discuss this with you.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n

\n \n Does my child have to talk in the appointment?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n
\n

No<\/span>, we offer a variety of ways to communicate their thoughts,\u00a0<\/span>feelings<\/span>\u00a0or views and if they prefer to communicate via parents\/carers or pre-written information<\/span>\u00a0they can also do this. We send out a communication passport with the appointment offer so that we can understand more about their communication preferences.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n

\n \n What if my child doesn't leave the house?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n

\n \n Are there a limit to the number of sessions that are offered?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n

Session length is decided on an individual basis<\/span> and will be regularly reviewed with you to make sure it is still the most helpful support.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n

\n \n Can my child have a movement break in the session?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n
\n

Absolutely\u00a0<\/span>\u2013 we encourage our young people to make themselves comfortable, however that may look<\/span><\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0There are a few sensory\u00a0<\/span>items in the reception area that they can bring into sessions<\/span>. Yor child\u00a0<\/span>can<\/span>\u00a0also<\/span>\u00a0bring\u00a0<\/span>with them\u00a0<\/span>their own sensory\u00a0<\/span>or other\u00a0<\/span>items\u00a0<\/span>that will make\u00a0<\/span>them more comfortable.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n

\n \n Can I bring snacks to the appointment?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n
\n

Yes,<\/span>\u00a0if that helps the session feel more comfortable. We are a nut free\u00a0<\/span>zone,<\/span>\u00a0so we ask that any snacks brought do not\u00a0<\/span>contain<\/span>\u00a0nuts. If you are planning to bring snacks, please declare this in<\/span> case the clinician has any allergies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n

\n \n Can I bring someone else to the appointment with me?<\/span>\n <\/summary>\n

Please contact us to discuss who you would like to bring as we are aware that we are likely to be discussing sensitive information<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>They would need<\/span>\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span>have an understanding of<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>situation<\/span>\u00a0and it would need to be\u00a0<\/span>appropriate for<\/span>\u00a0this information to be shared with them.\u00a0<\/span>Your child should also be comfortable with any\u00a0<\/span>additional<\/span>\u00a0person you would like to attend the appointment.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
