{"id":192920,"date":"2021-08-13T16:21:49","date_gmt":"2021-08-13T15:21:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/camhs\/?page_id=192920"},"modified":"2026-08-14T16:28:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-14T15:28:17","slug":"ace","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/camhs\/bucks\/ace\/","title":{"rendered":"Adopted and Care Experienced Team (ACE)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>What the service is<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cYou are not alone \u2013 we are here to help\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The Adopted and Care Experienced Team (ACE)\u00a0\u00a0is a small and specialist service that sits within Buckinghamshire CAMHS.<\/p>\n<p>The service was formerly known as the Looked After and Adopted Children\u2019s Service (LAAC).<\/p>\n<p>We work with children and young people up until the age of 19 years (provided that the young person is open to CAMHS prior to their 18th birthday) who live in care or have been adopted. We offer carer support, individual work, training and groups.<\/p>\n<h2>What we offer<\/h2>\n<p>We see each young person and carer as unique and we work together to help everyone make sense of the current difficulties, alongside thinking about what is going well.<\/p>\n<p>We think about relationships and focus our work on the goals of the young person and carers. We recognise that being in care brings its own challenges, which is why the team is highly skilled at engaging with children and young people who have a had a history of complex trauma and attachment difficulties. They represent stories of their journeys&#8230; their messages of hope!<\/p>\n<div class=\"ohft-testimonial  ohft-all\"><div class=\"ohft-testimonial-content\">\n<p>\u201cSeek as much professional help as possible, as children are a lot easier to look after than you realise with the right support and techniques, and it is much more enjoyable. The training does wonders, and if anyone is struggling, and had these sessions then they would be able to help out a lot more for the children they are looking after. It\u2019s also good for general communication.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"ohft-testimonial-author\">A carer<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"ohft-testimonial  ohft-all\"><div class=\"ohft-testimonial-content\">\n<p>\u201cAs much as it is difficult just try to be open as much as you can, as it has more benefit than bottling it up inside. Talking about it will really help you.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><div class=\"ohft-testimonial-author\">A young person<\/div><\/div>\n<div class=\"ohft-testimonial  ohft-all\"><div class=\"ohft-testimonial-content\">\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s always a brighter side.
