{"id":161,"date":"2023-03-09T16:18:46","date_gmt":"2023-03-09T16:18:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/talking-therapies-bucks\/?page_id=161"},"modified":"2023-04-14T11:30:53","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T10:30:53","slug":"specialist","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/oxfordhealth.nhs.uk\/bucks-talking-therapies\/about\/you\/specialist\/","title":{"rendered":"Specialist support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We offer emotional and practical support for people living with health conditions including:<\/p>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Diabetes<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Diabetes can be a lifelong condition that causes a person\u2019s blood sugar level to become unstable.<\/p>\n<p>There are 2 main types of diabetes:<\/p>\n<p>Type 1 diabetes \u2013 where the body\u2019s immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin.<\/p>\n<p>Type 2 diabetes \u2013 where the body doesn\u2019t produce enough insulin, or the body\u2019s cells don\u2019t react to insulin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Cardiac disease<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Cardiac disease is a general term for different conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is the name for a group of lung conditions that cause breathing difficulties and impact oxygen levels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n                <\/details>\n<details class=\"nhsuk-details nhsuk-expander\">\n                    <summary class=\"nhsuk-details__summary\">\n                        <span class=\"nhsuk-details__summary-text\">Chronic pain or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS\/ME)<\/span>\n                    <\/summary>\n                    <div class=\"nhsuk-details__text\">\n<p>Long term pain or fatigue puts a lot of stress on the brain and cognitive issues such as low mood, difficulty with memory or concentration are familiar, no matter what the underlying condition is.<\/p>\n<p>Chronic pain\/fatigue and its psychological effects have the potential to reduce quality of life, not only for the patient but for the family as well. Under-managed chronic pain\/fatigue may lead to less sleep, exhaustion, more stress, relationship and work problems and psychological distress so it is important to be able to intervene in this cycle to improve pain management and psychological welfare.<\/p>\n<p>For some people, chronic pain has an underlying cause such as an injury, for other people chronic pain may result from an underlying health condition such as irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, fibromyalgia or chronic fatigue syndrome.
