Rebecca<\/h3>\n

Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rebecca is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Lead in the service. She also works in North Buckinghamshire Psychological Therapies. She has trained and worked in autism diagnosis, and in adapting psychological therapy for autistic people, over many years in the NHS.<\/p>\n

Rebecca first became interested in the experiences of autistic people during her psychology degree. This interest grew after reading Donna Williams\u2019 books Nobody Nowhere <\/i>and Somebody Somewhere<\/i>.<\/p>\n

On completing her clinical training, she spent a few years working in children\u2019s mental health and paediatric services. This gave a good grounding in a variety of developmental and neurodevelopmental conditions and the challenges people face navigating systems that don\u2019t always fit or work well.<\/p>\n

Since 2001, she has worked in adult services and has been involved in local and national networks to support improvements in services for autistic people.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n

Counselling Psychologist<\/strong><\/p>\n

Laura completed her professional doctorate in counselling psychology at City, University of London in 2019.<\/p>\n

She first became interested in autistic people\u2019s experiences in her personal life. This interest grew professionally through her therapeutic work with autistic people in an adult community eating disorder service, as well as through autism training courses.<\/p>\n

Laura is passionate about raising awareness of autism and autism equality (ensuring that autistic individuals have the same rights, opportunities, and access to resources as their non-autistic peers).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n

Sarah<\/h3>\n

Clinical Specialist Speech and Language Therapist<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sarah trained at the University of Reading and, since qualifying in 2014, has worked in the clinical areas of adult learning disability, mental health and autism assessment with both young people and adults.<\/p>\n

Sarah is passionate about neuroaffirming practice and improving the experiences of autistic people in diagnostic services and has led on projects to adapt diagnostic reports.<\/p>\n

She has specific clinical interest in the experiences of trans, gender questioning and gender diverse autistic people and is part of a committee of speech and language therapists who have formed a clinical excellence network to further work in this area.<\/p>\n

In her spare time, Sarah has recently taken up running and also enjoys strength training, board games and knitting.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n

Michaela<\/h3>\n

Mental Health Liaison Nurse for Autism<\/strong><\/p>\n

Michaela is our Mental Health Liaison Nurse for Autism. They attended the university of Bedfordshire and completed their undergraduate degree in 2017.<\/p>\n

After qualifying, Michaela worked on a male acute psychiatric unit. During their time there they gained both clinical and operational experience. They developed an interest in co-production and how best to ensure that patients’ voices are heard. Michaela has always been passionate about improving the experiences of autistic patients accessing mental health services.<\/p>\n

Michaela is driven to help colleagues make the necessary adaptation, to ensure that autistic patients have equal access to the services available. \u00a0This led to them joining BARA in November 2022.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n

Linda<\/h3>\n

Administrator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Linda is our service administrator. She is involved with the procedures at every stage of the service, including our referral process and sending out autism assessment reports.<\/p>\n

She is also responsible for answering your phone call and email enquiries. Prior to the role, Linda worked for 2 years as an administrator with the Adult Mental health Team.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n

Polyvios<\/h3>\n

Consultant Psychiatrist<\/b><\/p>\n

Polyvios is a Consultant Psychiatrist working in the Bucks Adult Autism and ADHD Service. <\/span><\/p>\n

He first studied Biology and Neuroscience at Imperial College London (2009) before pursuing graduate\u2011entry medicine at the University of Cambridge (2013). <\/span><\/p>\n

He completed his psychiatry residency at Eginitio University Hospital in Athens (2024), having previously worked in various settings and specialties in the UK, Greece and Cyprus. As a resident he worked with the specialist adult Autism\/ADHD service, which became a formative and illuminating experience, sparking a deep and lasting interest in neurodevelopmental conditions. <\/span><\/p>\n

After finishing his residency, he further expanded his experience by spending six months working and training in child and adolescent neurodevelopmental services. He retains a strong interest in neuroscience and has a developing interest in phenomenology of neurodivergent conditions. He is committed to patient\u2011centred approach and understanding individual lived experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n

Zoe first completed her undergraduate psychology degree in 2023, before completing a master\u2019s in clinical psychology at Royal Holloway, University of London in 2024.<\/div>\n

Following student placements within adults mental health and children\u2019s neurodevelopmental assessments, Zoe worked as a support worker within Children and Adolescents Mental Health Services. Here, she worked with neurodivergent young people and families, supporting them to understand their diagnoses and develop strategies to support their mental health.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/details>\n<\/div>\n
