What is autism?
Autism is a lifelong condition which presents with social and behavioural differences that are impacting on someone’s life.
The official diagnostic term is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Others prefer to use the term Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
Previous labels like Asperger’s and High Functioning Autism are no longer in use. In this website, we use the term autism.
Our clinicians are aware autism can present in different ways for different people and groups.
Some people have developed ways of masking or compensating for everyday difficulties.
