Colin Godfrey MBE leads the way with his talk on the innovative nursing methods used by the Coasters team
Colin Godfrey MBE and Trevor Lowe from the Activities Development Service at Oxford Health NHS FT kick off our new series of Clinical Health Matters talks in association with Oxford Brookes University’s School of Healthcare.
The Activities Development Service (Coasters) find ways of engaging with users of the mental health services using a non-medical model of approach, and a philosophy of shared experience and challenge, through sport and outdoor activities to promote recovery and challenge negative perceptions.
This lecture will discuss the impact of the approach in terms of wellbeing and development, and in terms of the growing movement fuelled by participants, on the national and international stage.
Colin Godfrey MBE, Churchill Fellow, has been with Oxford Health NHS FT since 1992. He started the Activities Development Service in 1995 and won Nurse of the Year 2001.
